A good friend of mine from school named John Eigege shared some disturbing news today in our small group. John is from the Nigerian city of Jos, which lies on the unofficial border between the northern, predominantly Muslim region and the southern, predominantly Christian regions of the country.
There was recently an election in the area and in Nigeria, elections are often followed by turmoil. In this case a Christian won the election and many of the muslims in the city are claiming the election was fixed and illegitimate. This has quickly escalated into violence and hundreds of people have already died. John's family has been forced from their home and many of his relatives fear for their lives. Understandably, John is very upset about being so far away from his family while they endure these terrible events.
Please pray for the people in Jos, that the Holy Spirit would miraculously intervene, and that the violence will stop soon.
